Juice Cleanse Days 4 & 5

I’m combining days four and five into one post because the two days seemed very similar in terms of detox symptoms. By this point, my body was very comfortable on a liquid diet. I didn’t seem to have any less energy than normal, and I wasn’t any more hungry than usual either. My weight loss slowed down a tiny bit, so I wasn’t shedding three pounds a day like in the beginning of the fast, but still about a pound to a pound and a half each day. By day five I weighed 142 pounds and was at 17.9% body fat (yay!).

Day 4
The focus for day four was the heart chakra and the color green. The heart chakra connects the body to the mind and unites all of the other chakras. This is very important and why we drink a green juice everyday of the cleanse. As the author mentions, when the “heart chakra opens, you often release past traumas and emotional pain… you will concentrate on opening your heart to give and receive unconditional love”.

Green Juice

Juice Cleanse Days 4 & 5
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped collard greens
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped kale
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped dandelion greens
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped beet greens
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 3 green apples
  • 1 whole lemon, peeled
  • 1-inch piece of ginger root, more or less to taste

Put the greens through the juicer, then the celery, apples, lemon, and ginger root.

Day 5
Day five’s focus was the chakra associated with the throat area. It’s color is bright blue and this chakra governs self-expression and truthfulness. With our fifth chakra in balance, our communication with others becomes positive and uplifting.

Juice Cleanse Days 4 & 5Bright Blue Juice
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 1 small lemon, peeled
  • 1 small grapefruit, peeled
  • 1-inch piece of ginger root, more or less to taste
  • 1 pint blueberries

Put the celery, lemon, grapefruit, and ginger through the juicer. Combine the juice with the blueberries in a blender.

Besides the film in my mouth and some breakouts, I felt very normal. Day 6 is the first day you can start blending whole vegetables into smoothies, so I was really looking forward to that. Almost done!
